This morning is the 11th September 2023. A date which has many connotations to me. Obviously “9-11”, but on the positive side it has been twenty years exactly since I’ve been “smoke-free”. That’s something to celebrate. Also it was the date of my “Life-begins-at-Forty” experience kicking off: being kicked out and trying to survive in a little bed-sit in the house of a batty old landlady! Ah – life did get better though – and I still have kids and grand-kids to make a better go of things.
I’m on day 11 of my challenge – I’m almost half way through the miles – 36.5 done – 38.5 remaining. I’m not sure of the cash raised – but there’s plenty of time left. It looks like I’ve reached the £75 target (I actually set it at £100) I’ve also collected some cash from the Care Homes which doesn’t show up in JustGiving or Facebook yet as I haven’t paid it in.
You folks have been so generous and I’m humbly grateful; but we won’t rest on our laurels!
I’m off in the guise of Mr Sparkler twice this week and hopefully the weather will stay dry until 4:00PM on Wednesday as we still have no car! That is another story – it makes me too anxious to even think about it. But all will be well.
I’m working on a couple of tracks for my new album; which should “hit the shops” late this year! Ha ha, in my dreams.
Today I was pleased to be the guest of the Edwardian Care Home in Luton. I went through a wide variety of material and it’s always a pleasure for me to see people responding to some of the old songs. No dancing this week – that always seems to take a bit of staff encouragement. These good people work very hard for their salaries: as we know they’re never paid a fortune. I admire them.
Well that’s it for now! I’ve had to contend with a whole raft of health and well-being issues: from anxiety of our personal circumstances, rabid mouth sores, chronic pain in my legs and also a spate of “LBDIs” (Leg Bag Disconnection Incidents) – I’ll spare you the humiliating details!
All this certainly tests the belief that we have life in abundance. Well here we go again!
Grateful thanks,
Mr Sparkler – (he can write on his own now!) However he looks a bit grumpy in this one!
Glad to see you are well and still helping others with your talents Roger! God Bless you, Marc
Cheers Marc, hope that you and yours are doing well. Thanks for kind comments, R
